For wirelessly charging an iPhone, Apple Watch and Airpods, most of the options on the market are some variant of this form factor:

While I don't know if I'd qualify it as "compact for travel"—is a cube ever an ideal shape to go into a bag?—it certainly presents a more compact form on the tabletop than the competing designs. And I think that when not in use, the bare cube is easier on the eyes than the clotheshorse-style units.

I just wish the magnetic pogo pin would become a standard. Wireless charging is pointless if it needs to be within a few millimetres, might as well use physical connections that are steered together using magnets. I have a 20 pin usbc adapter that works brilliantly. It's small enough that it would easily fit on a watch and earbud case. They'd be charged in a fraction of the time as well

Totally agree. I bought a wireless phone charger and returned it the next day once I realized I have to place the phone in the EXACT right spot on the pad or else it won't charge. I'd rather have it wired and use it while charging

This is literally happening. Apple’s MagSafe charging is the basis for the Qi2 standard: https://appleinsider.com/articles/23/01/03/apples-magsafe-is-the-foundation-for-new-wireless-charging-standard
